S & M TAYLOR

MOSAIC.

We love to fix mosaic, especially traditional vitrous and glass but now there are lots of stunning new mosaics available and we are almost spoilt for choice. Never be afraid to design your own personal project in mosaic if it takes your fancy, I have been fixing mosaic in domestic applications consistently for over 35 years now, each job is always original and it is a look that simply does not age.

Mosaic is timeless and beyond mere fashion and if it is well fixed will last a lifetime.

Just a few points.

With regards to storing Mosaic, never stack the boxes on their side as this can distort the squareness of the sheeting. As soon as you receive them check that the sheets are still square, open every box and check a few to ensure that they are, we won't fix sheets of distorted mosaic, you can't make a decent job with them.

There will invariably be some degree of preparation involved before tiling can commence. This is due to the cube size of the mosaic magnifying unlevel or out of plumb angles etc. For mosaic especially, this is best done by us rather than others.

Mosaic is very thin, ensure that your installer fits your bath and worktops etc with this in mind and that there are no excessive gaps where they meet the walls. In fact it is better if the mosaic sits on top of baths and tops, so if they are recessed into the wall, so much the better.

Dimensional accuracy and neatness are absolutely essential when fixing mosaic and  large snakes of silicon covering big gaps at the point where the mosaic meets another surface can ruin the look of the job. Always point this out to anyone wielding a mastic gun near your tiling.
